So far it seems like the only thing we've been doing in the renovation is destroying things, and very few new things are happening. Granted the built-ins are nearly done, but it still feels like we keep taking steps backward. This upcoming weekend is going to be a turning point. If all goes as planned, we'll be putting up drywall and backer board.
While Collette was out of town this past weekend I put in probably 16-17 hours of work, in which I laid the bathroom floor back down, purchased a used radiator from the Re-use Center to replaced the behemoth of a radiator that was previously in the bathroom, installed the radiator and ran a couple feet of new piping (which is currently leaking a bit, but I'll soon fix that), and built most of the bath tub framing walls (and the tub fits!). Tomorrow Lance, a friend of Collette's uncle, is coming to put in the glass block window, which I had to disassemble and make smaller than the first one, and I'll build the back bath tub wall on camera. Then Richard comes to finish the plumbing for the shower, and finally the insulation and drywall go up. After all this it will feel like real progress is being made.... finally. Once the drywall is up then that means we can clear out the rest of the bedroom of tools and debris, which leaves us room to lay down flooring, which then lets us paint, then we can tile. See where I'm going with this? This upcoming weekend is going to be HUGE.
I'll post pictures tomorrow after the window and tub walls are finished.
