Starting Monday, November 3rd, I'm joining the Nerdery at Sierra Bravo. For those keeping track, yes, this is my 3rd job in the last 3 months. That sounds terrible, I know, but I was at Colle+McVoy for just over 2 years, and actually worked with Sierra Bravo on the Take Me Fishing site, so I know a few people there, and know a bit about their office environment and types of projects they do. Just over 2 months ago I took a position at Plaudit where I was allowed to work from home, which was pretty sweet, however, the work I was doing is basically production work. I think I've counted 10+ new websites I've built from scratch, and numerous others I've updated in that small 2 month window. From a long term career perspective, this just isn't want I need or want. Sierra Bravo is a development shop. I'll get to continue rocking the HTML/CSS mastery, but also get to develop sites in PHP, and any other language that peeks my interest. They do it all. They have work coming in from advertising agencies in Chicago, Dallas, and Atlanta as well as Minneapolis.
So I won't get to work from home anymore, but I should be working on projects that interest and challenge me. I also get to bring Leeloo to the office since they're dog friendly there. She'll have 2 other dogs to play with there too. Since she's still a puppy I'm not sure how frequently I will take her to the office, but as she grows, and becomes less hyper, I hope to take her most days and keep her out of her cage.
